Recruiting Myths

Myth: If you are good enough, they will find you
Truth: Coaches can't possibly come to every game in every city and every town. They arent reading your local newspaper or watching your local news. If they do come to a game, they already know who they are coming to see. At Recruit University, we will send you to them and make sure you get evaluated.
Myth: You dont have to start thinking about college until your senior year
Truth: On you first day of your 9th grade year, you are considered a prospective student-athlete to colleges. By your senior year, most teams have filled their roster for that class. There are a lot of necessary steps that you need to take to begin the recruiting process. The first thing you need to do is get on college teams radar. We will guide you every step of the way.

Myth: It's the coaches responsibility to get me recruited
Truth: It is you and your parents responsibility. Your high school coaches may have a relationship with local colleges but it usually stops there. In most cases, your high school coach is too busy to help every player who wants to play in college. They are teachers first. They have lesson plans to create, papers to grade, then practices to plan, coach practice, go home to their families and sometimes they have 2nd jobs. Im sure they want you to succeed and play at the next level but it is unrealistic to expect them to do the work for you. Choosing the right college is one of the most important decisions that you will make in your life. Dont wait for your coach to make this life changing decision for you. Recruit University will help you get options.
Myth: If you're getting mail from a college, they are recruiting you
Truth: You are just on the mailing list. You may receive questionnaires, camp information or maybe even newsletters. Unless you are receiving a letter signed by a coach that says "We are interested in you" or a phone call stating the same, you are not being recruited. We will help you get evaluated by college coaches and let you know if they are interested in you.
